Lyme Regis ” The Pearl Of Dorset” England
The Weather was great last Saturday so we decided to go to Lyme Regis ,the little coastal town in West Dorset full of history.Part of the Jurassic Coast,Lyme Regis is made for us all: from the beach, the promenade, geology, fossils, shopping a home to famous writers to scenes of films shot here..you will never get bored.
The sun was out,the fish and chips smelled so good and children were running around on the beach.I felt like I was on holiday. So we parked the car at the top of Broad street then we took a walk through the gardens and down on to the cobb.At Langmoor and Lister gardens looked great for enjoying a picnic with a fantastic view.We had a hard time choosing where to eat.Local fresh fish just brought from harbours along the south-west coast is available in the town full of dine dinning restaurants,cafes,gastro-pubs and fish chips shops. In the end,we decided to go the http://www.theroyalstandardlymeregis.co.uk where I went for local scallops in lemon butter, simple ,fresh, tender and sweet in flavour.
After a great meal, straight to the Cobb where we could really feel the British weather:From very hot and sunny straight to cold and windy .A jacket was a must here,at least for me.It was hard to have a relaxing walk at this point with the wind so strong. But never mind the weather,my mind was set to making the most of my day off.Lyme Regis has a great atmosphere with lots going on.I brought back some little souvenirs, some crystals and fossils to put in my memories box.
Sunny, windy, bumpy, hilly:The Pearl of Dorset is a perfect getaway for anyone. There more things to enjoy all season around so make sure you go and visit,I strongly recommend it.
